cLOUDDEAD - This about the city

As a stopgap between their self titled debut and 'Ten' , cLOUDDEAD released a 10" of new material. The two new songs were 'This about the city' and 'The sound of a handshake'. In retrospect it does feel like the perfect halfway house between the two albums, retaining the lo-fi rambling of the the earlier material yet approaching the more focused structures of the second lp.
For me, this represents the band at their peak. The cheeky Michael Jackson sample always puts a vimto smile on my face.

Fans of cLOUDDEAD, should also check Greenthink (doseone and why?'s previous odded out hip hop adventure) 'Blindfold' is the bees feet. It's that good. Yes, really.

Great great track, thanks!
My first taste of cLOUDDEAD was "Ten" and I'd never heard anything like it before. The lyrics to "Dead Dogs Two" is some of the best stuff I've ever heard.

I'm curious though, how would you classify their music, if you were working in a record shop? Hip-hop?

Great site - thanks for making us discover all the tunes :-)

Other bloggers are content to debate the pointless details of existence with a fury borne out of a knowledge of the futility of their endeavour. But here we see the language again allowed to dance and play whimsical games with our ideas of our own identities, subtly undermining our very concepts of self, forcing one to question everything about life.

A true wonder of our time. Everyone should read this, and people who don't should be killed.
