A while back I was raving over Odd Nosdam's 'This Is My Element' Skateboard vid soundtrack. I'm still missing six of the songs but here's four more I've discovered...

Root Bark

We Bad Apples

Cop Crush

Fly Mode

Panther's '14 KT GOD' album is still on my to listen pile, so I'm not sure how much Lips and Ribs have messed with this song... this is certainly pretty nice though...

Food for Animals make Hip-Hop that embraces the messier end of electronic music, the rapping is pretty pedestrian but the production more than makes up for that.

Since releasing new(ish) lp 'Belly' on Hoss Records they've teamed up with Faust and this was one of the tracks from the session...

I'm still fiending after Son Lux's album 'At War With Walls & Mazes' (now due 11th March) but until then he's tapped out a Beirut remix.

So...
Apes and Androids...

I'm quite taken with this track from their 'Blood Moon' lp.
It's a bit like Beck funking out with a Queen pinball machine.

Though it might eventually drive me insane, it's worth the risk....

Strange Famous Records
is making some very nice noises of late, originally set up by Sage Francis to release his 'Sick of...' series, it's gone on to establish itself as a label in it's own right. A while back it released Buck 65's sabbatical from Warner 'Situation' (oh how the major record company must've winced, I swear I saw more promo and underground hype for that record than any of his Warner releases) and moving forwards we can expect some proper no nonsense Hip-Hop from Prolyphic and Reanimator.

Their album 'The Ugly Truth' drops early May, to whet your appetite check this from the preceding e.p 'Artist Goes Pop' due April 1st.

Survived Another Winter (ft. Sage Francis, B.Dolan & Alias)

Props on getting Alias back on the mic again!

Tonight I've listened to The Black Heart Procession's trilogy of early albums entitled 1, 2 & 3 (funnily enough) in reverse order. No special reason why, it just turned out that way.

I especially like...

Themselves always put on an amazing show and this gig was no exception.
Recorded live in Brighton in 2003, this set captures their manic genre squashing sound perfectly.

Terror Fabulous

Poison Pit

Only Child Explosion

Live Trap

You Devil You

Subtle strike back on 13th May with 'ExitingARM'. I'm just a bit excited about it. Everything they've done so far has been gold. Frontman Doseone has hinted at a more pop direction for the record, but anyone who wronged the fuck out to 'The Mercury Craze' knows that isn't a bad thing.

So now... a first glimpse at their new album... it's sounding gloriously twisted as expected.
Have a listen...

Odd Nosdam mixtapes are always something to look forward too and this one is no exception.
I've got no tracklisting cos in the words of the man himself:

'compiling a tracklist would be pretty difficult at this point... but some stuff came off records by: Shirley Ellis, The Sandpipers, Lightning Bolt, Phil Manzanera, the Melvins, early Styx over Tonio K, Martin Denny, The T-Bones, Mr. Oizo over Delia Derbyshire, GBV, Crow, Angel... theres a few rarer records I might could get props for like 24 Karat Black, Paul Humphrey, Touch, Los Strwck, Rockin Foo... of course theres the Mooser man himself, Al Morgan, recorded live at Barthel's Supper Club in Dolton, Illinois. and thats Rush sampled by the Dust Brothers from Mellow Man Ace's first joint. thanks for listening.'

( (( ( ((MIXTAPE SUPER DELUX)) ) )) )
